St Piers & Young Epilepsy

St Piers School is a non-maintained special residential school for pupils aged five to nineteen, and St Piers College a unique residential and day college for students aged nineteen to twenty-five. We are run by the charity the National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy (NCYPE) trading as Young Epilepsy, charity number 311877.

Young Epilepsy's board of trustees has overall accountability for all aspects of our activities.

Young Epilepsy is dedicated to standing up for children and young people with epilepsy. We listen and work with them so they can fulfil their potential. We coordinate research that improves diagnosis and treatments. We campaign for children’s rights. We support young people in school and college. We offer cutting edge health services and provide innovative tools, information, and practical help for living everyday life.

The charity is funded from several sources. St Piers is largely funded from fees, as are Young Epilepsy's Health services. However, the fees paid don’t always cover all our expenditure or enable us to develop the environment on campus for our students. These costs, along with the remainder of Young Epilepsy's work, including research, national youth support services and campaigning, are unfunded, and rely on voluntary fundraised income.

Young Epilepsy needs to raise around £2m every year, to cover the costs of our national work and to provide for elements of the St Piers and Health budgets that are not covered by fees. Recent fundraising activities have paid for our Woodland Outdoor Learning space, purchased new minibuses for the School and College, and funded the creation of a sensory garden in the diagnostic suite in the Neville Childhood Epilepsy Centre.

We hope you will get involved in fundraising, campaigning and events and be part of #TeamPossible

Annually we hold a fundraising run on the campus called StarRun and students, parents and the local community all take part. We also have places in marathons, half marathons, triathlons, cycling events, challenge events and you could even take part in a Sky Dive! Every March we all come together to raise awareness of Epilepsy during ‘Purple Day’ and we also support national awareness weeks around mental health, learning disabilities and of course National Epilepsy Week itself clink here for how you can get involved

Your support will help thousands of children and young people with epilepsy across the UK as well as all the students here at St Piers. We are very grateful for all that our generous supporters do and we hope you will join them.
